First team Squad Pen Pics

Niall Conroy

First team shot stopper. Niall has fantastic distribution with either foot and this young and upcoming keeper is establishing himself as one of the best keepers in the league. Safe hands and a huge presence in goal.

Lewis Macdonald

“Macca” has great experience through his time with previous club Histon. This athletic, strong and ball playing full back adds great quality to the squad both as player and a character.

Taylor Parr

After coming through the ranks at Cambridge United FC Taylor is a superb young defender. Quick and loves to get forward with fantastic delivery from full back positions. Taylor is GMFC Captain and skipper for the season ahead

Charlie Bowen

Tall commanding centre half who takes no prisoners in a tackle. Comfortable with the ball at his feet and great aerial presence in both boxes. Plays with swagger and a winning mentality.

Tom Moran

“Knocker” a true club man who gives everything and more once pulling on the GMFC Jersey. Tough tackling leader and cool on the ball and under pressure. Hugely important to the squad both on and off the field and the boy can play a bit too from the back.

Jonny Hall

Returning back from St Ives, Jonny is a quick, athletic ball playing full back with fantastic aerial ability. Wand of a left foot with great delivery and quality. Great having this young man back at the club

Lloyd Groves

Lloyd joins us from Shelford this season. At 23 still learning his trade but has all the attributes to be a quality centre half in the Thurlow Premier. Strong and powerful with a great eye for a pass.

Luke Seaber-Shinn

Another player to make the step up from the Kershaw League. Luke has fantastic ability and quality and is now looking to develop in his next step up. “Shinny” can play full back as well as up top as a winger.

Mike Hyem

On his day undoubtedly one of the best players in the league. Box to box full of energy and a goal getting midfielder. Hard working and fantastic ability. One of many of the wind up merchants and characters in the squad.

Jack Watson

Jack is a classy ball playing midfielder. Happy with the ball at his feet anywhere on the pitch. With a big heart and big engine adds quality to the centre of the team. Big character within the squad and well respected.

Simon Unwin

Moves to GMFC from Hardwick last season, but with Eastbourne Borough and Histon on his CV not a stranger to this level. Full of tricks and quick feet. Can spot a pass through the eye of a needle and can pop up with a goal or two.

Jamie Backwel

Tall commanding strong powerful midfielder. “Blackers” is a huge presence both on and off the pitch. Respected by his peers and a massive asset to the squad. And when it comes to penalty taking Matt Le-Tissier doesn’t come close to this man.

Dan Kerrigan

Another new face stepping up from Hardwick last season. Again though not a stranger to this level. Learning his trade at WBA Dan is an old fashioned winger who loves to run and jink and trick his way through defences. Never stops running and eye for goal. Definitely the best dressed player at the club to!

Tom Sparks

Sparky is a little magician. Be it running at defenders or finding pockets to receive it in. loves the ball at his feet so he can create and twist defenders inside out. Be it wide or as a number 10 can unlock defences at will.

James Hall

Returning back from St Ives James has all the tools. Quick, strong and eye for goal. A handful for defenders and great signing for GMFC. Banger of a left foot and looking forward to seeing this young man wheeling away with goal celebrations.

Austen Diaper

Austen is a hard working honest forward. Can play anywhere up front and with good feet, pace, strength in the air and without doubt a goal getter, he is an important part of the squad and one of the great characters in it to. Well respected.

Ben Yeomans

Great character and vocal presence. Ben is a strong clever striker and after stepping up from Over FC in previous seasons has shown he is a talented forward with bags of confidence. After an early pre-season injury set back the lad is showing he is definitely getting into his stride and hit the ground running.

Sam Brooks

Sam is a young classy midfielder developing up through our under 18 system now into the first team squad. Tall ball playing midfielder who glides around the pitch with ease.

Matty Haniver

Matty is Player Coach who brings a wealth of experience and quality to the squad. Can play at full back, centre half or centre midfield. And with a CV listing the likes of Cambridge United, Cambridge City and Histon his addition on the pitch as well as off is a huge asset.

Chris Hyem

Chris is a GMFC legend…. Serving the club massively both on and off the pitch for over 8 years he continues to be a huge character whilst currently injured. Chris is “Club Captain” and we are looking forward to seeing the tough tackling midfielder back in action. In his own words…. a true “fans favourite”

Jason King

Jason is another player unfortunately out with long term injury. Despite this we are looking forward to seeing this classy and skilful defender back playing on the pitch. Great decision maker and adds again fantastic quality to the GMFC squad

Joe Furness

Another part of our squad currently side-lined. Joe is a midfielder with a sweet left foot, composed on the ball and great set piece delivery. Technically good and bright and we all look forward to his return.
Staff:

Errol McGammon (Coach)

Errol is another essential part of the off the pitch set up. With a huge wealth of knowledge and qualifications to match. Errol offers both great conditioning and fitness qualities as well as football to the players. His work in pre-season especially has been second to none.

Kev Nixon (Kit Man)

“Kit Man Kev” this man is a hero. The effort time and care put in to ensuring all is set up for the players and match and training days can only be described as class…. Loved by all the lads and huge part of the first team coaching and managerial set up

Gary Dean (Goalkeeping Coach)

“Deano” is the clubs GK Coach and the man brings a huge range of qualities. From tactical to technical and just his knowledge from his past playing career. Great asset to the coaching set up and you wouldn’t want to make a mistake whilst he is around or you will definitely know about it!!

Jessica Guthrie (Physio)

Jess joins us this season off the back of the end of last. Jess is professional in everything she does within the Physiotherapy set up. Covering diagnosis, treatment and rehab plans is essential in keeping our players on the pitch this season

Matt Clements (Manager)

Matt brings a wealth of experience from his playing days naming West Ham United, Cambridge United and Cambridge City as some of the clubs he has previously played for as well as Sudbury Town, Kings Lynn and Needham Market together with a wide background in coaching/fitness and managerial positions
