The football club are delighted to announce Chris Hyem has been appointed as the new first team manager of Godmanchester Rovers FC.

Up until the start of the 2016-17 season, Chris, 29, has been a tremendous asset to the football club as a player and supporter of his local team. From the age of 17 he has been heavily featured in the first team set up and was also a part of the double winning side in 2012 . After recovering from a recent injury, Chris played for Histon FC this season but is now relishing the opportunity in managing his home town club.

Hyem spoke to the website earlier today “It is great to be back at Goddy, a club I have been proud to be a part of for many years and this is a great opportunity for me as first team manager” Chris added “I would like to thank Histon FC for releasing me today in order to take up this new role”

Chris will be in the stands for tomorrow night’s match against Mildenhall Town and will meet the players as well after the game. His first match in charge will be on Saturday as we welcome Thetford to the David Wilsom Homes Ground.

Chris will be assisted by Neville Nania and David Hurst. “I played under both David and Neville and I am delighted to have their support on hand as and when required”

Rovers Chairman, Karly Hurst said “I am really pleased that we have got Chris back to the club and we are really looking forward to seeing him take the team up the table in the coming months” Hurst added “Chris is a local lad, well respected and a good friend to many involved here. We have every confidence in his ability to help the club get back on track”
