Matt Clements released this statement to be placed on the club website this evening:
“It is with a heavy heart I have made the decision to step down from my position as Godmanchester Rovers First team manager. Reasons only being down to my increase in work commitments and having to put more time into my business and development of the scholarship programme at Histon FC. Not to look or to take another role at another club. I would like to express my thanks and gratitude for the support and backing from the board of directors, the committee and supporters of the club, which I can only describe as second to none and therefore making my experience here a special and enjoyable one.
Huge appreciation to my coaching staff of Matty, Jess, Kev, Gary & Errol of whom none of our success would be possible without their dedication and expertise.
And finally to all the players at the club.
That’s the fantastic and exciting youngsters in the under 18 set up. The quality players and management team involved in the reserves and to the first team squad I’ve had the pleasure of working with I give you my thanks, respect and admiration for allowing me to be part of one of, if not, the best group of classy, honest and footballing talents around.
I wish every person associated with the club my wishes and thanks for all your contributions”
