Application for Promotion 2015/16 – Statement by the Board of Directors
In the past 12 months, we have strived to be successful both on and off the field here at Godmanchester Rovers. With the ambition of the players and management proving that we are a progressive football club on the field with our Runners Up finish to the 2014/15 season being complimented by lifting the Hunts Senior Cup in May 2015 with an emphatic win over Yaxley FC.
Off the field, we have made some changes to the structure of the committee by creating a Board of Directors (consisting of Karly Hurst, Chris Allan, John Southee and Simon Clark) to manage the day to day running of the football club. With the help of a strong committee we are committed to sustaining our football club for many years to come.
Commercially, we have raised our profile by working with more sponsors in the Town and from further afield. We are always on the lookout for more sponsors so if you are a local business and would like to get involved then please email firstname.lastname@example.org
In recent seasons, there has been much discussion regarding our application for promotion in relation to the amount of work required by ourselves to be considered by the FA for promotion. Last season, we estimated that in order to satisfy the ground grading requirements it would cost in excess of £20-25,000. This season we have restructured our approach and with the generosity of local and nationwide businesses we are looking to carry out the necessary work at The David Wilson Homes Ground. The football club are dedicating a proportion of any revenue generated towards our ground improvements project.
Therefore, we can confirm that we have applied for promotion to Step 4.
Of course, we need to finish in a promotion place as deemed by the FA in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division. (Normally as Champions or possibly Runners Up).
The football club must meet the necessary ground grading requirements with an inspection no later than 31st March 2016 however we are aiming to be in a position by the end of February 2016 to hold our inspection by the FA.
We need your help!
There are various jobs around the ground that need completing so if you would like to help your local football club and/or have a few hours spare then please contact John Southee on 07850142358
Going forward, the football club would like to place on record a vote of thanks to the players, management, committee members, sponsors, generous donors and the number of volunteers who have given up their time for the football club in recent years.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
